Come, All of Us, Come (Psalm 139)
Embedded in the Psalms is the fullness of the human experience, from deep, soul-aching grief and despair to exuberant joy and thanksgiving. There’s love and delight, fear and anxiety, bitterness and anger, peace and contentment. The Psalms assure us that we can address God honestly.
Our emotions are not something we need to repress or avoid, but in fact, God chooses to meet us in our emotions. Whether we’re experiencing sadness, guilt, anxiety, joy, or any other emotion, we’re assured that we can bring all of who we are, our whole selves to God.
Two of our own, Zach and Jordan, agreed to share how their relationship with God has deepened in and through their emotions. Their testimonies speak to the reality that God invites us into relationship with him, one another, and all of creation, in and through our feelings and emotions.
