Quirks and All (John 21:1-9, 20-22)

We can always point to someone smarter, richer, more attractive, and more put together than we are. Yet we can’t seem to stop measuring our worth based on how we rank against everyone else. Not only do we compare ourselves to others, we compare ourselves to past and future selves. It seems that we only know how we’re doing relative to how we think someone else is doing.

The disciples were in the same boat. In this sermon we explore the rivalry between Peter and John, and how following Jesus helped John celebrate his differences without basing his worth on them.
