In this sermon series we’re looking at what the book of Lamentations has to teach us about the power and purpose of lament. Or, in other words, what do we do when our world breaks?

In addition to our normal worship, the first Sunday of every month, we celebrate communion together at the Lord’s Table.

We strive to make Kids Commons a place where all kids can feel safe, be curious, and know they are loved by God.

Nursery is available each week for children birth to 3, and preschool and kindergarten are available each week for 4-6 year olds, which can be joined at anytime during the morning.

We invite 1st to 3rd graders to meet once a month on second Sundays, and 4th and 5th graders once a month on first Sundays right before the sermon for those who would benefit from that specific kind of learning environment.

All young adults 6th-12th grade are invited to join our youth group as we serve food at Common Ground Ministries. This is a great opportunity to serve our local community. Lunch is provided.

We're often busy, anxious, distracted, and exhausted. Sometimes what our hearts, souls, and minds need is a chance to slow down, sit with other people, and turn towards God.

Every month, we're going to offer this kind of space. We're calling it Reset, a chance to be renewed by God through scripture, prayer, and praise. You don't have to pretend or posture, you can share or stay quiet. The important thing is that we'll be together, turned towards God.

Whether you're seeking fellowship, spiritual growth, or a space to share your faith, all are welcome to attend. Childcare will not be available, but we welcome young people to join who are ready to engage in this kind of gathering. We’ll have snacks available as well!

On March 23, Haverhill Commons hosts our 7th Lunch with L'Arche. This is a chance for us to practice our value of Solidarity with a beautiful community located right here in Haverhill. This is one of the best things we do as a church all year.

After our Sunday worship service, we’ll walk over to First Baptist Church where we'll share a meal, engage in a community activity, hear from some of our friends living at L'Arche communities in Haverhill.

We'll be serving a variety of soups (including vegetarian), apple crisps, hot apple cider, and warm bread.

More than half of men in America feel really lonely. It can be  hard to find genuine, in-person connection, let alone deep friendships.

That's one of the reasons we've created a space for guys at the Commons to get together for food and fellowship. These gatherings are an easy, casual way to get to know and encourage one another in our faith.

Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday is a reminder that we are human. A reminder that we have limits. A recognition of our need. 

Ash Wednesday is an invitation to hear and respond to the Gospel again, to consider the words of Jesus: "The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!”

Together, we turn our eyes towards Jerusalem and diligently, deliberately, move to the cross and onward through death to the Hope of the Resurrection on Easter Sunday.

SoulCare Sunday

Instead of gathering in our normal space for Sunday worship, on SoulCare Sunday, we partner with Rolling Ridge Retreat Center to practice Sabbath rest in community and embrace the wonderful rhythms of winter.

The property at Rolling Ridge includes a quiet lakefront, green pastures, paths through the woods, two prayer labyrinths, manicured lawns, as well as gardens and community growing spaces. All only 10 minutes from downtown Haverhill.

A Spiritual Director will guide us through the spiritual practice of lectio in this beautiful outdoor setting . After some time in contemplation, we’ll gather to share our experiences of renewal and rest with each other, creation, and God.

This event is open to adults and children, just let us know how many are attending so that we can plan accordingly.

Candlelight Service

A heartfelt, traditional New England classic. On Christmas Eve we gather for a special candlelight service to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

It will be a beautiful service, full of familiar Christmas hymns, capped off with the singing of Silent Night by candlelight.

We invite all children to join our main service and we will have an array of activities and coloring pages available for people of all ages in the foyer. (We will not have a separate Kids Commons space on Christmas Eve).

In our Advent series, The Hopes (and Fears) of All the Years, we’re looking at the ways we can find hope in the Christmas story, even when hope feels elusive. During Advent we also light candles of hope, joy, peace, and love each week, culminating in our Christmas Eve service and the lighting of the Christ candle.

On this special Sunday, we’ll also enjoy musical performances by our Kids Commons children!
